Teriyaki Tofu

Last week, I had a package of tofu that desperately needed to be used. I generally only use tofu to make tofu ricotta and rarely use it for much else. But, I came across a blogger who marinated her tofu in teriyaki sauce and baked it. I thought that had my name written all over it.

'Cept for the fact that I don't know what teriyaki sauce is.

Well, I consulted with my friend Google, and figured out it was basically soy sauce, sugar and some seasonings. Simple enough.

And, teriyaki tofu was born.

Teriyaki Tofu

1 package tofu
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup Bragg's amino acids or soy sauce
2 tbsp agave nectar
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp dried sage
pinch of cayenne pepper

Press tofu using paper towels and a heavy book, or with a tofu press. Mix together all the ingredients in a container. Let the tofu marinate in mixture for 8-12 hours. Preheat oven to 375. Cut tofu into slabs and place onto a foil-lined baking sheet. Drizzle remaining marinade onto the tofu. Bake for 20 mins or until golden brown and slightly crispy.

  1. I'm so glad you learned what teriyaki sauce is! It's one of my favorite glazes, especially with stir fried veggies!

    1. Ooh, that sounds delish! Do you make your own or buy it bottled?
