Feeding/Fueling Schedule

My world has been turned upside down. Ok, that was a little dramatic-- and not entirely true. I'm just having a really hard time eating well and working and going to school and having a life. It's that whole school-work-life-health balance. (Health gets its own category because proper nutrition takes more time than you think.)

My biggest issue comes from skipping lunch. I tend to lose myself in work and not be aware of hunger signals. After my normal breakfast, I usually go all day without more than a handful of almonds or a piece of fruit. Obviously, that is not good.

Let me share with you my last straw-- also known as yesterday.

Yesterday morning I had a breakfast of oatmeal (oats, wheat germ, flax, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, goji berries, raisins and almond milk) with a sliced pear.

I made some carrot juice after that and then headed off to school and work. I was there until 8pm and all I had was a lot of water and a handful of baby carrots.

Then, when I should have come home, made a solid dinner, blogged and started homework, I chose the more irresponsible route of going to a bar with some school friends. I don't regret it. It was a good group and a fun night. But, this meant no dinner. This bar does have food but they have typical "bar" food. Veggies deep fried and covered in cheese? I'll pass, thanks.

So, I continued drinking more and more water and eventually came home around midnight exhausted (and fully hydrated) with an empty stomach and a headache. Not cool.

I've been ignoring this whole issue for the last two weeks, but I think it's time to face the music. I need an action plan. Going a whole day on some oatmeal and a handful of carrots is just not healthy.

I've decided that I am going to set an alarm for lunch and create a feeding/fueling schedule of sorts. I'm gonna pay attention to my hunger signals this weekend and schedule my lunches for next week accordingly. I'm hoping this works. It kinda has to.

This was a really word heavy post but one that has been on my mind for the past several days. If you actually read all of this, I give you major props!

Happy Friday!
