Homemade Almond Milk

MMM, almond milk. I have been wanting to make my own almond milk for a while now. I used to use the store bought stuff but in June I challenged myself to cut out ALL processed foods for six months. One of the things I miss the most is almond milk.

So, I figured I would make my own.

I only used almonds and vanilla for mine. But, I would suggest adding a small amount of agave, stevia, maple syrup or honey.

It's really quite simple.

1 1/2 cup filtered water
1 cup raw almonds, soaked in water for 12 hours, rinsed well
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp sweetener (optional)

Blend all your ingredients. Serve.

Simple, right?

If you have a Vitamix, I bet your product would be comparable to the store bought stuff. My $20 blender still did a fantastic job. I actually really like the texture of this almond milk.

I used it on my oats this morning.

Almond milk makes everything better.
