24 hours in Austin

I drove into Austin on Thursday evening to take care of some biz-nasty (business) on Friday afternoon. It was a quick little trip with two exciting highlights.

1) I accomplished one of my August goals!

My mom scored a free movie pass and I used it to go to a really late showing of Crazy, Stupid, Love on Thursday night. By myself.

I was a little timid at first. It was odd getting one ticket and not entering with a friend. But, I grew into it. I actually enjoyed it. It was nice to just lounge out on two seats and watch the movie. I think I might even do it again.

I honestly don't know what "scared" me about this particular experience. I think I am just too self-conscious. It was definitely a growing experience. I will say that it was a lot less intimidating than I thought it would be.

2) I got a new toy!

My uncle found a great deal on HP TouchPads this past week and we scored one. So much fun! I have been playing with it for the last few hours. So far, so good.

I also got to play with my parents' new toy-- a Vitamix blender. It's such an amazing blender! We made a smoothie and some almond milk with it on Friday morning. Both turned out incredibly smooth. I can't wait to play with it some more on my trips home.

It was a really short trip and I am already back and settled. This is the last weekend before my final year of graduate school begins. Crazy!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Friday!
