Holiday Decorations

It's December, which means I can finally get my holiday decorations up! I know the majority of the world thinks it's okay to start getting ready for Christmas the holidays the day after Thanksgiving. I disagree. I think December 1st is appropriate.

So, I waited until Wednesday night to peruse the selections at Target.

Some things were pretty traditional.

Others weren't even close.

Everything was so expensive! I've never shopped for holiday decorations. Correction: I've never shopped for holiday decorations before December 25th. I went in thinking about a wreath, some twinkle lights and one of those small ornament tree things for the coffee table. After seeing some of the prices, I decided against it. I may have felt differently if I were to stay in Houston for the entire month, but I'm only going to be here for another 10 days. $65 for 10 days of holiday cheer was just not worth it.

So, I got creative. I found some large felt snowflake ornaments for $2 and grabbed a few. I then saw some glittered package tie on's in snowflake shapes and grabbed two packs for $1 each. (Sidebar: Who the heck uses package tie on's?! You're lucky if I wrap your gift instead of shoving it in a bag with some tissue paper.) I came out with a bill for a little over $15. I'll share pictures but only if you promise not to judge too harshly. It's little scant but it's enough to get me in the spirit.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...
