We got to their house around 1:30pm and were immediately seated next to a table full of munchies.
Along with the cookies and peanut candies, they also served up an elderflower drink from Norway which was fantastic.
While the women set up lunch, the men brought on the sake and the laughs.
Lunch was a noodle feast all done up Malaysian style.
I helped myself to some mee siam, two types of noodles and a spring roll.
This was super authentic Malaysian/Singaporean cuisine and it was amazing. I'm ready to move.
We sat around for a while sipping green tea and talking and digesting so we could make some room for dessert.
Green tea sweet rice cake and pomegranate chip vegan ice cream (which reminded me of those chocolate covered candied cherries you get around the holidays).
My favorite was this Danish chocolate.
It's a bitter dark chocolate wrapped around some sweet, soft marzipan and I was in love from the very first bite.
Lunch was so fun and so filling that I actually didn't eat anything the rest of the day. The conversation was fun, interesting and at times pretty deep. We ended up heading home only at about 8pm. Fun day!
