SATURDAY
I slept in on Saturday morning and spent about 2 hours cleaning and packing. I finally left Houston at about 1pm. I came home (to Austin) and put together a lunch of steamed carrots and cauliflower on a bed of greens. I topped it with some of the leftover dressing from Friday.
With a side of curried black eyed peas.
After lunch/early dinner, my mom and I went shopping. I got a new iPhone case (long overdue) and we drove downtown to go grocery shopping at the Whole Foods headquarters.
This is the mecca.
I was giddy with excitement the whole time. It's just fabulous. In fact, it's one of the places that I take tourists (i.e. friends or family that come to visit). I'm not sure they find it all that amazing, but whatever, I have fun showing it off.
Anyway, we came home with tons of veggies and got to work prepping them for the week.
Green kale, red kale, collard greens, Swiss chard, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and celery. We also bought sweet potatoes, onions and zucchini. Yay for veggies!
Anyway, we cleaned out the fridge of some of the older greens with a green smoothie for dinner.
It was awesome. And, it was a family affair which is always fun.
We watched Dream House on Saturday night. Pretty good movie. It's not really a horror movie so it's perfect for those that are timid around scary movies. We all enjoyed it. We didn't get in bed until about 1am, which is the standard spring break bedtime, so all is good.
SUNDAY
Breakfast:
Handful of raw oats topped with almond milk and homemade applesauce (recipe coming soon).
Lunch:
Greens topped with carrots, celery, jicama, mushrooms, cauliflower, zucchini, and avocado.
Dressed with a creamy strawberry balsamic dressing. (Recipe coming soon!)
After lunch, I went outside to our driveway to witness this...
Yes, that would be my brother's friends duct taping him. Don't ask.
Anyway, Sunday afternoon I tagged along with my brother and my dad on their trip to the golf course.
They have been taking lessons for a few months and are getting pretty good. I learned the basic swings and enjoyed the nice weather and scenery. It was beautiful day to be outside.
We came home in time to make dinner plans. Bombay Express, please!
This is one of my favorite places in Austin. It's simple, unpretentious, authentic Indian food. Oh, and it's SO delicious. On average, we go about once a week. It's a must do every time I come home.
Post dinner, we came home to watch Hugo. I enjoyed it. It was a little long, but I still liked it. The two kids did a fantastic job acting and the little boy had the bluest eyes I've ever seen!
Ok, you're all caught up!
