WIAW & Food Aversions

Hello, friends! I'm pretty excited this morning. I've got a long list of things to do but I'm really looking forward to them. That's always a good thing, right?

So, What I Ate Wednesdays (WIAW) is almost always a run down of what I ate on Tuesday. You can deal with that, right?

I woke up on the early side yesterday and put together a green smoothie. Spinach, oranges, flax seeds and almonds. Really simple. Took all of 5 minutes to put together.

Might look harmless, but it was a little monster.

A yummy one, too!

I packed up my lunch (which became my early dinner) while sipping on my smoothie. I made a quick salad of spinach and dino kale with the regular toppings-- jicama, zucchini, cauliflower and carrots.

I quickly realized I was lacking a salad dressing. I whipped together one using tahini, sundried tomatoes, and nutritional yeast with a splash of Bragg's and apple cider vinegar.

It was pretty delicious actually. I feel like you can never go wrong with sundried tomatoes. I love sundried tomatoes! But, I hate raw tomatoes. I tried for a really long time to eat tolerate them, but failed. I did manage to enjoy tomatoes in Italy but that quickly wore off once I came back to the States. Sometimes, I wish I liked tomatoes. They look mighty cute and the yellow ones are a lovely color.

There are a few things that I have developed aversions to in the last few weeks. Raw celery, onions and garlic. Raw celery makes me gag. I put in my salads for a while and ended up eating around them. I finally used up some in smoothies and then left the rest to my parents to finish off. Celery is coming off of my shopping list for a while. I have also developed a new hatred for raw onions. The smell is making me nauseous. I like them cooked though! And, last but not least, garlic. I used it in a salad dressing once and it was such a big mistake. I haven't cooked with it in a long time and I'm not entirely sure I want to try.

These are all pretty new. Maybe it's because I rarely ate them raw before going ETL? I'm not complaining. It's all good.
