Chocolate Oats

Chocolate Oats. I believe I just got your attention.

I started becoming more adventurous with oatmeal in the past few weeks. Mostly just sneaking in handful of fruits and a scoop of protein powder to round out the meal. But, slowly it has become my "I-have-nothing-in-the-fridge-or-no-time-to-make-anything" meal. It takes all of 5 mins to make and fills you up. No complaints here.

Now, about these chocolate oats. You have to try them. They are the perfect thing to satisfy a sweet tooth without added sugar (Lent-approved). And they still only take 5 mins to make.

Combine a 1/2 cup oats with 1 cup almond milk. Add in 1 tbsp of unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 sliced banana and 1 tsp of vanilla extract. Cook until oats are tender. Serve with a dollop (or two) of nut butter (almond is my favorite). SO SIMPLE. Post- Lent I would definitely add a drizzle of agave for a touch more sweetness. I also stir in a half scoop of protein powder (Alive Whole Food Energizer) once I take it off the heat. Completely optional, but just adds a little more nutrition and staying power.

Try em out. Lemme know what you think.
